Lately the cultivation of onions shows an upward tendency in Germany.
There are various, partially interacting reasons for this development.
An essential precondition for the economically successful and extensive
cultivation was and still is the development and the introduction
of modern technical cultivation methods, improvements in the field
of plant protection and not least, the growing, testing and putting
into practice of new varieties of different origin, which meet the
increasing demands of today´s markets.
