Much knowledge and a lot of time are required for the development of modern carrot hybrids. Also good facilities and excellent germplasm are indispensable, but the most important factor is continuity in breeding staff. CAROSEM is meeting all the above requirements. Twenty years ago, John Buishand, the CAROSEM carrot breeder, took his Ph. D. in the U.S.A. in carrot breeding, and shortly afterwards he started his carrot breeding program in Holland. Nowadays this program, together with all the germplasm, is owned by the newly founded CAROSEM company and -most importantly- John Buishand is still in charge of this program. We now have the confidence to present a complete range of hybrids for various production and marketing methods.
